Engage with our history . . .

The Russian River Historical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and presenting the stories of the people and places that make our river communities unique. From family photographs and artifacts to recorded oral histories and video interviews, we collect and share the memories that connect generations. By celebrating everyday lives as well as landmark moments, we help keep the heritage of the Russian River area alive for the community today and for those who come after us.

About Us . . .

Artifact preservation is at the heart of what the Russian River Historical Society does—because once photographs fade, paper becomes brittle, and objects are lost or discarded, the physical evidence of local history can’t be replaced.

Preservation

We work to safeguard items that tell the Russian River’s story.

Ongoing Support

We continue to support historical places, signs and buildings across the area.

Varied Items

Early maps, letters, and business records to resort ephemera, tools, uniforms, and everyday household pieces.

Digital Archive

Using scanners and museum-class software, we’re archiving the past using methods of the future.

Projects

Artifacts, research projects, exploration centers, and local research.

Events

We engage the community with a variety of events including cemetery tours, car shows, and community occasions.
